Low-level tracking templates override account-level tracking template

Tapper uses an account-level tracking template in Google Ads to monitor ad clicks. If you have a tracking template set at a lower level (campaign, ad group, or ad), the lower-level template will take precedence, causing the account-level template to be ignored.

This issue can be resolved in a few ways:

Lower-Level Tracking Template Not Needed: If the lower-level tracking templates are not required (they may be remnants of previous configurations), you can simply remove all lower-level tracking templates and let Tapper’s tracking template operate as the sole one.

Using a Tracking Template to Add UTM Parameters to the Landing Page: If you're using a tracking template like this:

{lpurl}?param1=value1&param2=value2

Your goal is likely to add extra parameters to your final URL suffix for on-site or server-side tracking (for example, to include the campaign name for accurate conversion tracking).

This can be easily fixed by moving the additional parameters from the tracking template to the final URL suffix for the entities using a tracking template (such as your campaigns). After doing this, remove the lower-level tracking template.
